A giclee (zhee-clay) is an individually
produced, high-resolution
reproduction done on a special large
format printer. Giclees are superior to
traditional lithography because no screen or
other mechanical devices are used; therefore, there
is no visible dot screen pattern. The image
has all the tonalities and hues of the original
painting.
The quality of the giclee print rivals
traditional silver-halide and gelatin printing
processes and is commonly found in museums
and art and photographic galleries, including
both the Metropolitan Museum and
the Museum of Modern Art in New York
